District 10 Tournament - BB 9/10

Game 5: 6/13/2010

Kent started it's 2010 9/10 allstars district with a tough Auburn sqad.  Kent came out on top winning it's first game 10 to 2.  Jordon Wright started on the mound and pitch an awesome 5 1/3 innings giving up 2 runs with 3 hits, 7 k's and 1 walk.  Matt Franceschina came and closed out the game. The defense was the story of the day though.  With incredible plays by Jacob Moore in right field. Both Jacob Booth and Jacob Cox combine to play well at 3rd.  Mateo Hernanadez had a web jem up the middle at second to end the 5th. Cade Harris anchored the defense at short with some nice plays of his own along with Zach Archibald and Dominic Argon contributing in the outfield.  Nice job boys!

The offense was on track also.  The Kent boys combined for 14 hits!!!!!  Jodon Wright, Cade Harris, and  Shane Nagle all had 3 hits a piece.  Matt Franceschina, Ryan An, Jacob Booth and Kyle Combs also contributed to the hitting with Matt hitting a 2 run HR.

This was a huge team win.  The kids were loud and excited.  We really appreciate all the fans who came out to support the kids.   It was nice to see some past kent allstar friends.  Hope you can all make it out Tuesday night.

Game 11: 6/15/2010

9/10 had their 2nd game of the tourney.  They played a very aggressive Soundview team.   Kent came out on top 10 to 4.   Shane started on the mound giving us an outstanding performance.  Shane went 3 2/3 innings with 4 k's 1 w  5 hits and only giving up 2 runs.  Mateo come in for 2/3 inning with 1 k 1 w and 2 runs and Matt closed the game pitching 1 1/3 with 3 k's.
Offensively Cade lead the way with 3 hits.  Mateo, Jordon, Matt, Booth, and Kyle all contributing with hits of their own. The team was very patience at the plate and made the most of their at bats. The Defense was the start of the game only allow 1 error. Great job 10's.  Again thanks for all your support. Hopefully we will see you on Thursday 6/17 when we play BLS the last 2 undefeated teams.

Game 15: 6/17/2010

The big game of the undefeateds. BLS gave us all we could handle but the Kent kids pulled it out 12 to 8. Matt started on the mound going 3 2/3 innings with 6 k's, 1 run, 2 walks and 2 hits. Dom came in for relief and did an outstanding job just did get the defense behind him. Mateo and Cade fininshed the game off. Great job pitchers!!!!

On the offensive side the Kent kids continued to hit the ball collecting 12 hits altogether. Mateo, Cade, Zach, and Kyle all had multiple hit games. Matt, Shane, and Moore all added hits of their own.

Defensively is where the game went wrong. The boys didn't have there best game giving up 6 errors. Kent was leading 12 to 3 going into the bottom of the 6th. The combination of the errors and walks allowed the BLS team to give us a scare scoring 5 runs in the 6th. But the kids held on to win and are going to the Ship!!!!!!!!! Great job guys.

Game 18: 6/21/2010

Kent are the District 10 Champs!!!!!!!!!!! The kids played awesome like a true championship team. We won 5-0 beating BLS for the 2nd time. Jordon started on the going 5 1/3 with 7 ks 3 walks, and 5 hits. Matt closed the game. They pitched a great game but it was the defensive behind them that proved to be the game winner. Only 1 error and lots of great catches and plays by all. I'm very proud of the defensive.

Offensively we slowed down a little this game only collecting 7 hits, but strung them together to get what we needed. Cade lead the team with 2 hits, with Kyle, Jordon, Matt, Zac, and Mateo all adding hits of their own.

Some Tournament stats

  • We had a team batting average of .378 with an OBP of .468. We collected 41 hits in 4 games with 18 walks. Great job at the plate.
  • Pitching in 4 games we collected 35 ks, and only gave up 16 hits, 17 walks , and allowing only 14 runs. Thats awesome for 4 games.
  • Again everyone contributed on defensive allowing our pitchers to have the success they did.
  • NICE JOB KENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! On to STATE

Washington State Tournament

Washington State Tournament - BB 9/10

Game 8: 7/18/2010

The team's debut in the State tournament ended with a big win for our Kent boys. We beat PacWest 10-0. Jordon and Kyle each had 2 outstanding innings on the mound shutting out the other team. Jordon had 3 Ks and Kyle had 4 Ks.

The bats were on fire....One kid in particular....Matt Franceschina had 3 at bats with 3 homeruns. 1st one was a 3-run homer, followed by a single-run homerun, and finally a 2-run homer. 6 RBIs for Matt......WOW!!!! Kyle, Jordon, Jacob Booth, Shane and Ryan all had 2 hits a piece. Jake Moore and Jacob Cox each contributed with hits as well.

Defensively, there weren't many balls put into play. Cade had a great catch at 1st. Kyle and Jordon both had nice tosses to 1st for outs. Jordon had a nice grab at 2nd. Only 1 error. Fantastic!!!!!

Thanks to all the fans for supporting the team this tournament season. Next game Tuesday against Centralia!!! Way to go Kent!!!

Game 16: 7/20/2010

Another win for our 9/10 allstars. Game 2 had all 3 elements working for us: Pitching, Hitting, and Fielding. We beat a sound Centralia team 9-2.

Shane, Matt and Jordon all pitched impressively. Shane pitched 3 1/3 innings with 1 k and only 1 run scoring. Matt pitched 1 2/3 innings with 1 run and 1 k as well. Jordon finished it off allowing no additional runs.

At the plate, Mateo and Cade led the team with 3 hits a piece. Jordon had 2 and Shane, Ryan, Zach and Kyle each contributed hits as well.

The defense was phenomenal. Cox had a great snag at 3rd. Ryan had a nice catch at right field. Matt had several grabs at short. Everyone contributed defensively. Players were talking to each other and backing each other-up. No defensive errors. Outstanding!!!!

Next game: Thursday at 6:00 against Bellevue East. Should be quite a game.

Game 21: 7/22/2010

Our 3rd game in the State tournament was quite a game. Unfotunately, our Kent boys couldn't pull this one out. We lost a heart-breaker 1-3 to a very good Bellevue East team.

Pitching was outstanding by both teams. Jordon pitched a phenomenal game. He pitched 4 1/3 innings, striking out 4 batters allowing only 3 hits and 2 runs. Kyle came in for 2/3 inning and allowed only 2 hits and 1 run. We couldn't have asked for anything more than what Jordon and Kyle did on the mound. Way to go boys!

Our boys didn't get many hits against Bellevue East's pitcher. Kyle and Matt each had a hit a piece and Dominic got the RBI.

Defensively, both teams were great. The ball was put into play by both teams but both defenses were flawless.

Now we need to battle tonight against Central Vancouver and pull-out the win to make it to game 1 of the State Championship tomorrow.
